Sombat Permpoon Gallery

Sombat Permpoon Gallery, the largest gallery in the country, not only documents Thai cultural history from the last century but is devoted to presenting works of emerging, mid career and established Thai masters.  Its mission is to raise public awareness and appreciation of Thai art within Thailand and abroad. The Gallery aims to make art buying accessible to all, from novice collectors to art dealers. For over 30 years they have represented some of the most historically prominent artists, and passionately collected over a thousand paintings and sculptures dating from the late 20th century to modern day pieces.

The Sombat Perpoon Gallery was founded by one of Thailand’s most prominent and renowned art collectors, Sombat Wattananthai, who has been an active member of the Thai art community for over 30 years. In 1979 she opened her first small gallery at Siroom in Bangkok and after much acclaimed success, opened River City Plaza in 1982, and in the early 1990’s, galleries at The Royal Orchid Chariton and the Hilton Hotel.

Sombat Permpoon Gallery occupies an impressive 6 story building. The interior space offers elegance, tranquility and an intimate setting for all art lovers.  With over 3,000 square meters of space offers plenty of opportunity to leisurely and comfortably view the pieces on display. The Gallery recently completed the refurbishment of its 400-square-meter second floor. This new space is dedicated to outstanding current artists, with no limits in terms of media. The gallery’s policy is to promote the use of art in terms of generating dialogue on aspects of contemporary culture.
